Can you briefly describe your program?
Our program is an online Catholic baptism preparation course for parents and godparents. It brings everyone who loves the child into the same preparation, wherever they live. Key features:
- A mentor works one-on-one with each family in writing throughout the course
- Three assignments, completed at the family’s own pace
- One shared registration, so parents and godparents prepare together, in person, by phone, or online
- Reflection and discussion on the meaning of Baptism and on raising a child in the faith
- Real people answering real questions
- Primarily text-based with select video clips, for deeper reflection and retention
- No scheduled meetings, so families prepare on their own time
The course is authentically Catholic and deeply spiritual, grounded in Church teaching and the Order of Baptism, while staying practical about the daily work of raising a child in the faith.
What are the major aspects of the course?
- Mentor-led accompaniment. Each family is paired with an experienced instructor who gives personal feedback and invites parents and godparents to reflect, not just read.
- Authentically Catholic and Christ-centered. The course presents the fullness of the Church’s teaching on Baptism, drawn from the Theology of the Body.
- Prepared together. Parents and godparents prepare side by side under one registration, so the people responsible for this child’s faith begin on the same page.
- From Baptism to sainthood. The goal is not a single day but a life: helping families pass on the faith with Heaven in view.
How long does it take, and how is the course structured?
- The course consists of three assignments, framed by a short intake form and a closing feedback form.
- Families have up to 3 months of access.
- Work is done at the family’s own pace.
- On average, families finish in about 4 to 6 weeks on the Standard course, and 2 to 4 weeks on Urgent Care.
The process is simple:
- Parents and godparents work through one assignment at a time.
- They submit their work for review.
- Mentor responds with personal comments they read before moving on.
- The family discusses each topic together as they go.
Upon completion, a certificate is emailed to your parish.
What topics does the course cover?
The course moves from why we need Baptism, through the Sacrament of Baptism itself, to the celebration and what comes after: the meaning of its symbols, the godparents’ role, and nurturing a child’s faith at home. See the course content above for the full session-by-session breakdown.
What is the cost?
- Standard: $75 per family
- Urgent Care: $105 per family (faster response time, same course, faster completion)
- A Gift Option is also available for families who would like to sponsor another.
Available in English and Spanish.
How can parents find out if the program is accepted in their parish or diocese?
Before registering, families are invited to confirm with their parish that the program will be accepted. If the priest or baptism coordinator is not yet familiar with Catholic Baptism Prep, the family can share the website and show them the course content. The final decision always rests with the parish. Many parishes and dioceses across the United States and beyond already accept the program as a complete preparation.
Are there circumstances where an online program would not be appropriate?
Rarely. The online format gives families more time and privacy to absorb each topic, and it fits the reality of busy households with other children, work, and godparents who often live far away.
Our instructors adapt the course to many situations:
- Godparents who live at a distance from the family
- Families where only the parents, or only the godparents, are taking the course (the rest is simply marked n/a
- Families with limited time before the baptism date, through Urgent Care
This also lets parishes conserve their resources by referring families to us while keeping personal attention on each one.
How would I partner with you to offer the program in my parish or diocese?
You are welcome to schedule an appointment with our Outreach Team. You can also call 800-208-1364 or email outreach@agapecatholicministries.com.
How do you keep clergy informed?
- At the start, families may share their login with their priest or coordinator so they can follow along.
- Families can print their Answer Keys and review them with the parish.
- On completion, a certificate is emailed directly to the parish, and mentors share the family’s feedback.
This gives clergy a clear picture of where the family stands and how ready they are to raise their child in the faith, while respecting the family’s privacy.
Is there any follow-up?
Yes. We encourage families to root themselves in a local parish and to keep growing after the baptism:
- Connecting with a parish community as their home base
- Recommended Catholic books, podcasts, and apps for faith and parenting
- Keeping their Answer Keys for reference
- Ongoing relationships with their instructors, who remain available after the course
What do parents say?
It gave me a better understanding of the role of a godparent, and how to prepare myself for the baptism and after. It made me realize it’s not just a ritual, but a way of bringing the child into something much bigger. It’s about starting a journey, not just for the child, but for everyone involved. – Godmother, Tactacan Family
What taught me the most was the meaning behind the symbols in Baptism, especially the roles of Priest, Prophet, and King. It showed me that Baptism is about more than the day itself, but about the life you’re called to live afterward. – Godfather, Tactacan Family
